Chinese pesticide industry shows good development trend in early 2011 thanks to the gradually increasing demand from domestic and overseas markets. China's output of technical (chemical pesticides) in the first two months of 2011 reached 390,000 tonnes, up 19.3% compared with the previous year, and it is estimated to continue to increase in the following months. As of 31 Mar. 2011, rape sclerotinia rot has hit 993,133 hectares of rape fields all over the country, up 30.8% compared with the stricken area till last week. With the large-scale occurrence and the coming peak period of rape sclerotinia rot from April to June, some fungicides with low toxicity and good control effect, such as procymidone 50% WP, dimethachlon 40% WP, carbendazim 50% WP, iprodione 225 g/L SC, propineb 70% WP and 50% dimethomorph WDG, are expected to have promising market in the next months. Besides, some fungicides' prices see increase in April 2011. For example, the ex-factory price of prochloraz 97% TC has jumped sharply to USD9,467/t in early Apr. 2011, up 28.11% compared with last month, mainly owing to its tight supply and the increasing prices of raw materials.
