However, laminate flooring could continue to lose share in the U.S. floor coverings industry as competition increases from resilient flooring, engineered wood floors, and click installed bamboo and cork. Prices could also remain weak due to rising competition from Chinese manufacturers and U.S and European manufacturer overcapacity. Manufacturers and marketers must increase their emphasis on unique designs and products in order to hold onto their share of U.S. floor coverings sales. Producers are introducing exotic and extinct wood looks, ceramic and stone looks, and long planks as part of this strategy.
