Traditional network architecture is very complex and has some serious concerns like loss of data, static traffic flow, and increased latency rate. On the other side, software-defined networking (SDN) is dynamic in nature, provides increased network flexibility, and assists network providers in decreasing latency rate. Another big challenge faced by most of the network providers is how to connect the large data centers, because traditional networks do not support the dynamic requirements of server virtualization. SDN serves every business need related to networking such as centralized and distributed network architecture in local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and in data centers.  

SDN is creating efficient and effective networking environment in almost each industry vertical, but telecom and IT, and cloud services providers are the heavy adopters of it. In SDN architecture, any number of applications can be served by services providers and improve customer satisfaction. SDN architecture eliminates multiple layer architecture required by traditional network architecture by decoupling the control layer and provides virtualized control from a remote location. By using SDN applications, service providers can use proper bandwidth management in order to provide better browsing experience to end users.   

The major restraints of this market are the security issues related to data transfer and lack of industry standard for SDN.
